Assessment and advisement at Barstow Community College are designed to assist the student in selecting courses which match with his/her current abilities and thus help to ensure success. Most course placements in entry-level basic skills are advisory, and appeals options are available for students who feel that their skills have not been accurately assessed. A student may take an alternative math or English test from the Assessment Testing Officer, or petition for a review of placement from Counseling.
Students who feel that they have either a learning or physical disability which might adversely affect their test scores should contact the DSPS Office at (760) 252-2411, ext. 7225, for alternative testing formats. Further assessment information and a complete schedule of test dates is available in the Schedule of Classes.
