Note on http://www.sarcity.org website:

On two occasions hackers invaded our website in an attempt to get to the host. At this point our website sarcity.org was turned off. We are sorry for the inconvenience or hassle this has caused you. Posted is the schedule of classes being offered this weekend. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Dear SAR City participant:

Thought I would give this the personal touch, clear up some questions, and give the new people an idea of what they are up against.

First and foremost the Barstow Desert Rescue Squad would like to thank you for being a part of what we consider an awesome experience.  Some of the top paid and volunteer search and rescue personnel in the country meet at Barstow College for SAR City, with over 50 classes taught by experts in their field .  They teach because it is in the blood; it is important for others to know, and they want to share.  It is this dedication and conviction that makes SAR City what it is -- a reasonably priced event for the common person.  This is what SAR City started out to be, and remains to hold its ground and offers a priceless opportunity for you and I.

I have received a lot of questions about classes, the schedules and times.  I apologize, but this is an ongoing process till the end.  Lots of changes occur; you name it they happen.  We do all we can to get quality, not quantity in our classes.  We look at what is pertinent to our industry; is it of value and worth the time to attend?  So I know you are trying to prepare, get an idea of what you are going to attend, but please be patient and be assured the event is coming this weekend and that you can register at the event!

We have many parts of SAR City, for example the classes, the meals, the demonstrations, the vendors, the barbeque, the Saturday night presentation, and finally the raffle.  I hope you will take full advantage of the classes and the knowledge out there.  We offer new classes each year to support returning students, while still offering the basics for our new students.  In using the college facilities, we are able to offer a .5 credit for the weekend.  The meals are prepared by inmate workers from Glen Helen correctional facility, and you will not find better quality, variety or abundance anywhere for this kind of event.  These guys are proud of their product, and complimenting them is not a sin.  If you walk away hungry it is your own fault, so bon appetite!  We search countrywide for vendors, trying to offer an array of products that are needed and affordable.  Please take the time to visit and shop, the hours are more than adequate to see it all.  Note that most vendors close up at Saturday night’s end so do not expect much left in the gym on Sunday morning.

I would like to think that the Saturday night program is the highlight of the weekend. We search nationwide for speakers who can inform, entertain and offer us something of importance to our job, whether paid or volunteer.  I hope you will plan on attending our program that night.  The raffle will happen right after, fast and furious, with some really good stuff to be given away.

I hope that I have addressed some of your questions or concerns and if not email me at Drs8r14@aol.com. I will be glad to address anything you need to know, hopefully giving you the right answer, or at least what you want to hear. How is that!  Looking forward to the weekend, hope you are too.
