Final Exam Information
There is no mid-term for this
course.
FINAL EXAM: The final exam will
be online during
the dates listed on the course homepage, but must be taken in a proctored
environment as a requirement of the college. You will need picture
ID when you take the exam. If you live near Barstow College Main
Campus, Miramar, or Fort Irwin Campus, you should plan to use the computer lab at
that campus for the exam. Except in extenuating circumstances,
proctors are not approved for those who can use the computer labs.
If you live out of the area and require a proctor, please see the proctor
form for information. Proctor requests MUST be submitted at least 2
weeks prior to the exam start-date.
The final exam must be submitted by the
last date/time listed on the course homepage. Please observe the due
date/time carefully - class does not end on a Sunday. Because my grades are due at the college,
no extensions
can be granted. Late exams are not graded.
The final exam will be open book and open notes.
You
can also use the online lessons if they are available to you. You should
take the test as if you were in a classroom and allowed to use your books and
notes. Even in a classroom, you still would NOT discuss the questions
with someone else during the test.
For studying: I would suggest taking notes on things that
seem emphasized in lectures - especially if they are in italics - or things you
see on quizzes. (Just a note
for ANY class - if it seems important to the teacher, it will probably be on a
test.) Then be sure you have read the chapters. Even though the test is open
book and notes, you will not be able to answer the questions correctly if you
have not read the assigned material - both the lessons and the chapters. (You will also find that the exam will take
MUCH longer, and if you do not read the material beforehand, by the time you are
done with the exam, you will have!)
The final exam will contain 50 multiple choice questions. Some material comes from
the text alone, some from the lessons alone, and some you will find both
places. Again, you will not have any
problem with these as long as you have read the assigned material.
You can expect the exam to take
2-3 hours. Be aware that the college computer labs have
specific cut-off times that are earlier than their closing time,
so call them first to verify their hours and be sure to leave
enough time to complete the exam. Don't wait until the last
minute to take the exam or you may not be allowed to take it.
As always, if you have any specific questions, please
email me directly by clicking on the email button below.
Thanks!
