Password problems? Read this!

Please be aware that filling out the syllabus does not mean you are enrolled in the course. You must complete all the registration steps in order to be enrolled in a course.  The first step to completing enrollment is filling out the admissions application.  You must then go into the registration area and add the course you wish to be enrolled in. AGAIN, Filling out the syllabus will not enroll you in the course.

Your username is the first four letters of your last name and the last four numbers of your social security.  Your password is the first four letters of your last name and the last four numbers of your social security.

Problem One

Are you entering your username all in lowercase letters?

Correct Example:

smit1234 (this is not your username -- it is an example of a username entered correctly with all lower case letters)

Incorrect Examples:

SMIT1234 -- wrong -- all the letters are uppercase
Smit1234 -- wrong -- the S is uppercase
sMit1234 -- wrong -- the M is uppercase
smIt1234 -- wrong -- the I is uppercase
smiT1234 -- wrong -- the T is uppercase

None of the incorrect examples work, because there is a capital or uppercase letter in them.

Problem Two

Are you putting the first four letters of your last name and the last four numbers of your social security in the bottom box?  Are you spelling your password correctly?  Are your hands on the right letters on the keyboard? (I know this sounds like stupid advice but I have done these before and so I know they are possible!)

Problem Three

Are you sure you are trying to access the section you enrolled in?  Who is your instructor?  If you enter your classes through the discussion group you can eliminate this problem.

Example:

We are offering four sections of COMP 1:

One class started in August and the instructor is Mr. Kellenberger.
One class started in September and the instructor is Mr. Ordway.
Two classes start in October. The first section is with Mr. Ordway and the later section is with Ms. Vasi.

Ok, so how do you tell which class you are enrolled in?  Enter your classes through the discussion group and you can eliminate this problem. Find your registration confirmation paper and look at the section number and instructor, or go to http://bcregweb.barstow.edu/, log in and check your enrollment. Have you been trying to get into the wrong class?  If so, you now know why you can't get in!

Ok, so you checked your registration and you are not enrolled in any of the class sessions?  At this point you need to finish your enrollment.  If you don't know how to do this email admit@barstow.cc.ca.us (excluding weekends or holidays) and they will help you through the registration process.  You need to be aware that you may not be able to enroll in a course if it is already full or the registration period has passed.

Final Solution:

If you have completed all the steps above -- confirmed your enrollment -- and you still can't get into your course, then you can email techhelp@bcconline.com to get help from the Instructional Technology Staff. Remember that if you do not give all the information below in your email, the support staff will not be able to help you.
