Lectures
Lectures: For this and subsequent sections of Humanities 5, I am adding a new element, Lectures. The purpose of these lectures is to provide students with more substantial academic concepts. Historically, students in Humanities 5 have been most successful and have often had high praise for the course and their participation in it.
Consequently, it seems appropriate that the course itself grow as the students have. In this beginning session in 2004, I am including 3 formal lectures on issues and concepts related to multicultural mythology. These three lectures will provide more meaningful reading challenges for the students, including materials which answer questions which both the former course and previous students have raised.
These lectures will provide you with work often required in such classes in four year universities.
Lecture 1: "The Four Functions of Mythology" by Joseph Campbell
Lecture 2: "Greek Religion" by Professor Clifford Herschel Moore http://www.bartleby.com/60/224.html
Lecture 3: To be announced. (Please hit reload or refresh to see updated materials)
